Today's WT lesson: Desperate for more MS. How many get appointed 1 yr after baptism?
by Open mind intoday's wt lesson: serving jehovah with all seriousness, excerpt from paragraph 11:.
"if a brother has been baptized at least one year and to a reasonable degree meets the scriptural qualifications for ministerial servants outlined at 1 timothy 3:8-13, he can be recommended for appointment.".
how often have you seen someone become a ministerial servant one year after baptism?

Especially since in many Kingdom Halls I've visited in the past 2 yrs, including my own...there's a lot of elders doing the sound and carring mics
I've seen this at the congregation that I'm going to right now. Some meetings the young bothers do the mics and other meeting the 64 year old C.O.T.B.E does the mics. Years ago brothers were climbing over themselfs to be made M.S's, but things change.

Df'd and Meetings
by IMHO inwhy the set procedures for ones that are df'd when attending meetings?.
(i think i know the answer to this but i look forward to your thoughts first).
-
Pitchess Co-Gen
In particular, why do you think that Df'd persons are supposed come in as the song starts and leave immediately after the closing prayer?
I dont think that a rule ( It depends on the congregation ), because the congregation that I go puts us anywhere that is available including the front !

What is your standing in a congregation if you're a man of 40 and never married?
by dgp inon a different thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/211210/3/my-life-well-the-first-part-at-least.
someone commented that.
as a sister especially you are nothing when not attached to you husband.. this made me curious.

I notice that the brothers who are over 40 don't marry ( unless they find someone really good ). I mean the sisters that are older either has baggage ( abuse victims, have 2 to 3 kids, or just want to marry someone with a title or better yet "privileges ) . I mean the brothers get a lot of flack for not dating Jehovah Witness women, but I find that there just like the "worldly women " ( I hate using this term ), but I feel for JW's in genral because you have to date such a small pool of people and its a smaller world when your a Jehovah Witness. Check my past stories to find out what I went threw with dating Jehovah Witness girls.

How was dating as Jehovah Witness?
by Pitchess Co-Gen inlooking back i'm glad i didn't marry my ex..

I think the process of getting to know a person was worse, than dating. Getting to know a JW sister was like a job interview for me. I felt and still do to this day that most sisters were only interested in status. Are you A.) An Bethelite B.) An Elder , or C.) An Ministerial Servant. If not oMG why are you talking to me ?
I felt the exact same way when I was trying to date a witness girls It seems that there always trying to look for perfection .

Did anyone try to go to the high school prom ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen ini remember being a high school senior and wanting to go to prom ( i graduated from high school in 2003 ), but prom was forbidden when your a jw teen.
i even said to my parents if i took a witness girl would it be ok; they actually said yes.
i found a girl ( yes she's a witness ) to go with me, but here's the kicker she agreed to go.

All of a sudden she had a part on the meeting ( Why avoid school activities ? ), and she didn't want to feel like a hypocrite so she droped out of the date. Needless to say I didn't go to my prom ( three years later a went to someone elses prom, but that another story ).

Did anyone see "Four Weddings" on TLC 2011/05/06 - JW bride
by Scully inonly caught part of this program during my tea time at work last night.. the premise: 4 brides competing with each other, and hosting the other brides at their wedding, scoring the wedding and reception.
the prize was an all expenses paid island honeymoon.
i didn't particularly care what was on tv, but a couple of my colleagues were watching it, but boy did i ever do a double take when one of the brides, named celeste, would not enter the church for the second and third weddings, based on her beliefs as a jehovah's witness.

I was very happy when the two brides who got married in churches (the ones her holier-than-thou stuck up ass refused to enter) wound up in a tie to win the grand prize, and this fake JW wannabe princess went home empty handed.
That story reminds me of my ex-fiance on how she tried to make a showy display and she was trying her hardest to empress a bunch of people I couldn't stand !

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

I remember like around 2005-2006 my brother and a couple of friends went to my friend's parents 30th wedding anniersary at local mexican resturant ( I'm from Los Angeles ). Anyway that day it was very windy and cold we wore our hats, but when we walked inside; apparently we didn't know about the "rule" where you don't wear hats inside a building . Keep in mind in past coments I always said that my old Los Angeles congregation is very "old school"; so the people there threw a fit and started making comments ( keep in mind were in our early twentys and not children ) . As soon as we finished our meal we left ! My brother and I said a few kind words to my friends parents and left pissed off !.
Now the only reason we didn't blow up at these people is because my parents were there ( and they sided with the congregation ! And even the Elders said we were wrong ! ) I kind of glad Im not at that congregation anymore.
